PROSITE Scan (EBI)

'PROSITE Scan' is an improved web-based tool designed to detect PROSITE signature matches in protein sequences. PROSITE signatures are patterns or motifs found in protein sequences that can be indicative of certain functions or structures. This new version of the tool incorporates ProRules, which are context-dependent annotation templates. ProRules enhance the tool's capability to detect functional and structural features within protein domains, improving the accuracy of function prediction based on these profiles.
'PROSITE Scan' allows users to match both user-defined protein sequences and sequences from the UniProt Knowledgebase against custom patterns or PROSITE signatures. To enhance response times, matches between sequences from UniProtKB and PROSITE signatures are retrieved from a pre-computed match database. The tool offers various output modes, including simple text views and a rich mode that provides an interactive match and feature viewer, complete with a graphical representation of the results.
